
MANGGARAI, fortuna.press – Traveling to the northern coastal area of East Manggarai, Flores East Nusa Tenggara makes you so fascinated with the beauty of God’s created nature. One of the tourist magnets is Watu Pajung beach. White sand beaches intersperseddiselingi with rocky coral cliffs and lushtrees add to the attraction of traveling to there.
Watu Pajung Beach in Nanga Mbaur village, it is about 5 KM in east of Pota, SambiRampas district, East Manggarairegency. This beach has a characteristic ofwhite sand stretch along the beach, in some parts there is a rock that stands gracefully and firmly back to the hills of the grove.
The area around WatuPajung beach is still a natural forest and prairie. It is named Watu Pajung because on the beach there is a rock that resembles an umbrella so that visitors can take shelter under it. For a moment looked at it, is more like the back of a giant tortoise that seem to be watching the sea.
The waters of Watu Pajung beach are generally quiet and suitable for sport activities such as swimming, snorkeling and diving. The right time to visit is in the morning and afternoon when the reddish yellow sunshine sweepsthe shiny beach and makes the golden yellow reef shows off a very beautiful beach charm.
The trip to Pota can be reached from Ruteng to Reo and Dampek next to Pota and WatuPajung beach. If from Borong, get past Bealaing, and then to BentengJawa and Dampek in District Lamba Leda, and then to Pota and WatuPajung beach.
The road condition is quite narrow and much damaged. The best choice is when heading to Potaand is departing from Borong, namely through the national road to Ruteng, and then to Reo, Dampek and towards Pota. The road conditions on this track are pretty good.
There is a Komodo Habitat in East Manggarai
Interestingly, the forest area not far from Watu Pajung Beach lives Komodo ancient animals called Rughu in the local language. According to research results initiated by the Natural Resource Conservation Center (BBKSDA) Rughu is the same species with Komodo. Although Rughu has a rather slender posture and lighter skin color or golden yellow. Differences in posture and skin color are thought to be due to food supplies and environmental factors.
